It was only during the selection of images for the exhibition that it became apparent to me how well these seemingly unrelated images fit both the exhibition theme and each other. They depict short local trips which were captured during extensive travels in recent months and which give the viewer a hint of the flavour of life in these far away places.
Additionally both images represent the genre of street photography which has become my biggest passion in my current photographic work. The catalyst for this was an outstanding workshop I attended in the US with Jay Maisel.

Capturing moments which would have been otherwise lost is what I am striving for in my work. And to reveal that one elusive element which sets apart outstanding photographs for me: Gesture.

The gesture of human beings shows us life in such an immediate way, and the gesture we see in objects – in our interpretation of the world around us.
