| My photographic style is truly opportunistic, which implies that I carry my heavy camera back-pack more often than most would do. With frequent trips for business or pleasure to out of the ordinary locations there are always unexpected opportunities for taking an interesting picture and I would hate myself for missing a shot by leaving some equipment behind. Like most people I have always had a camera – buying my first SLR years ago [CANON T70]. It was the technical aspects of handling the camera and lenses combined with the diverse effects of the darkroom process which enticed me and on the sideline led to experimentation with 3D laser holography. The launch of the first affordable consumer D-SLR [CANON 300D] brought back the interest in photography, and the real eye-opener was the introduction to Viewfinders by a colleague and friend, Andy Arnold. His advice combined with the instructive club evenings and the opportunity to challenge myself through participation in the clubs theme competitions, vastly improved my attention to picture composition to the extent that I have been the challenge winner twice. |
