My professional activity revolves around a “hard” business environment. Away from my job I spend time on a wide range of interests and passions most of which could be considered a “soft”, creative environment: photography is one example. While my job inspires the businessman in me, a hobby like photography inspires the artist in me and helps me to reach the necessary balance in life.
Photography would not be meaningful if pictures were not shared. We all have our own view on the world, observing life through our own individual filters. Exchanging images – made with our own unique “filters” – brings us closer together and is always an enriching experience.
My photography equipment is basic (Nikon D40), and my knowledge about Photoshop limited. That is a conscious choice. In my opinion, a good photographer should be be able to make interesting pictures using simple technical tools, in the same way a good cook is able to create an exquisite meal using simple ingredients. I don't have one specific favourite photographic subject, although I generally find my main source of inspiration in nature. The colour scheme found in nature is unbeatable and, in my view, doesn’t require Photoshop for improvement.
Photography and travel go hand in hand. Together they form a wonderful synergy, as once again in shown in this exhibition.
