The "Travel Photography" workshop provides a set of simple guidelines to enable the traveller to bring the 'feel' of a location home with them. As well as showing how to take images that have impact, the session shows how to seek out a range of scenes and vantage points that - when put together - will help convey a real sense of 'being there'. It gives important tips on how to gain the cooperation of local people - and how to avoid them being uncooperative!
The workshop is designed for people who have a particular interest in taking photographs when travelling, and who have perhaps more than a passing interest in photography. However no specialist knowledge is required.
How to prepare for (and survive) a trip: equipment and travel tips
Capturing crisp strong images: key technical and image tips
Dealing with tourism and the 21st century: minimising the intrusion of the modern world
Extending your range: creating an interesting variety of images
Putting it all together: telling the story
Sessions are limited to a maximum of ten participants to ensure that individual questions can be answered. The workshops are illustrated with plenty of how-to, and how-not-to, slides, and there will be a set of workshop notes to take away.
LOCATION and FEE: The workshop will be held either at the studios of Creatif Images (in Ixelles, Brussels) or the Hotel Silken Berlaymont in the EU area of Brussels, and will be led by Trevor Waldron. Lunch and refreshments are included in the participation fee of 120 Euros (150 Euros for non-members), plus full notes of the material presented.
