STREET & CITY PHOTOGRAPHY

One day workshop with Pascal Baetens

A small group workshop which explains the practical approaches and techniques of urban 'reportage' photography.

Cities are teeming with life, full of fascinating buildings and places. Yet capturing a portrait of a city and its inhabitants is not so easy as it seems. This workshop teaches photographers how they can break their own barriers as they approach the many subjects on offer in the streets and public places of a thriving city.

The workshop is all about encouraging creativity and boldness, and translating that into practical approaches. Participants may use compact or SLR cameras, either film or digital, and the session is suitable for photographers at any level of technical expertise.

Outline of the session:

  • Introduction to the principles and techniques of reportage photography
  • Critical need for the photographer to have an open attitude to any subject
  • Practical assignments, either individually or in small groups
  • Feedback sessions and constructive assessment
