Seeing a black and white image jump into life in a developing tray is one of the most satisfying sights that a photographer can experience. Taking a good image and getting the most out of it - turning it into a stunning print, full of clarity and expression - is another major step forward.
Subjects covered include:
- Techniques for developing films known to be taken in extreme contrast situations
- Review and refinement of split-grade printing
- Interpreting negatives and proof prints for the best printing strategy
- Advanced dodging and burning with masking shapes
- Pre-flashing
- Toning, and split-toning
- Photograms and the Sabatier effect
All materials will be provided. Sessions are limited to a maximum of six participants to facilitate individual participation.
LOCATION and FEE: The workshop will be held at the British School in Tervuren, and will be led by Matthew Lea - a teacher of photography at university level in the UK, and a freelance social-documentary photographer.
Lunch and refreshments are included in the participation fee of 120 Euros (150 Euros for non-members).
